Pumpkins & Golden Doodles

Pumpkins & Golden Doodles

Pumpkins and Fall Colors

One of my neighbors had these pumpkins on their porch and I loved the setup. Had to take a picture, then it begged to be painted in a virtual watercolor. Enjoy!

I finally finished Obie’s painting and it looked gorgeous in a wide weathered light brown frame. It is a virtual watercolor. Obie is a gorgeous Golden Doodle.  It only took me all summer to finish. Continue Reading…

Flowers, Ducks & Grandbabies

Flowers, Ducks and Grandbabies Painting

The last two weeks I spent a lot of time outside planting flowers in pots and vegetables in pots and in the ground. I am trying hanging tomatoes which, at least, look great with the flowers and herbs in the top part of the pot. IMG_4769Mama Duck wasn’t happy with me trying to peek at the eggs, but I got a good picture.  This is going to be an interesting spring as I have a robin nest in a tree opposite the steps on my deck. She is dive bombing my dogs when they want to go out!IMG_4795 Continue Reading…

Spring Flowers

Spring Flowers

My featurDaffodils and PansiesTulipsed image is a watercolor I did a few years ago of roses. I can’t wait until all the flowers bloom so I can do more watercolors. That summer I did the hydrangeas you see on my other pages and the daffodils and pansy watercolor as well as the tulip watercolor.

Spring Flowers 2016!

This weekend I spent a lot of time outside doing yard work and cleaning out flower beds. Mama DuckmamaDuck_4687 wasn’t happy with me trying to peek at the eggs. She sent me scurrying into the house and waited til I closed the door. I have a duck with attitude. She looked like she had her wing on her hip and was saying this is my yard. I didn’t get a picture of her in that pose as she was hissing and I was moving away quickly. Later I got this photo and I was actually surprised at how small she is. I am hoping to get some great pictures of the ducklings growing up, that is if Mama Duck lets me in the yard. This is going to be an interesting spring! Continue Reading…

Seals In Alaska

This week was in between my classes and I relaxed and just played with my art. Although I usually use my own photography, the seal painting is from a friend and I had a lot of fun painting it in digital watercolors over a sketch. The original photo was taken while they were on vacation in Alaska. I loved the colors that came out and the slightly abstract view. Continue Reading…

Miniature Donkeys

Miniature Donkeys

Miniature Donkeys

Several years ago I did a photo shoot at Sunwoods miniature horse and miniature donkey farm. It was interesting Miniature_Donkey_Family-3_001that the miniature horses ignored me BigEars-2but when I went to take pictures of the miniature donkey babies, the parents would both show up quite quickly and I had to take the pictures quickly before being shoved away or before one of the parents stepped in front of the camera. They were very protective and would check out their baby after I took the picture. The original photos are highlighted in my Cafepress store. These paintings are in dry brush watercolor and are my first attempt at deciding what I want to do with them. I do like the soft look of the paintings in general but will need to do finishing touches. I am still playing with them :). Continue Reading…

Fond Memories of Maine

Fond Memories of Maine

pomWhile writing my wellness blog on Emotional Wellness this week, I started thinking about what I would do this summer for a vacation and the fun I had in Maine in 2006. I went there 3 times that year and for several summers afterwards. I went there for a watercolor workshop with Don Getz who I had met earlier in Peninsula Ohio at a workshop. Continue Reading…

My Irish Favorites

My Irish Favorites

This was grading week so my painting had to wait, but I did take the time to look up some of my favorite digital paintings from my trip to Ireland several years ago. I hope you will enjoy  Ireland through my paintings and share the joy I felt in the trip and while I painted them. The original photos were shot from a Canon 5D camera.

I also took the time last week to do an interview with Fran McGrogan of Stand Curious. We talked about creativity and my insights into painting. I had a wonderful time and hope you all enjoy it too. Continue Reading…

Birds of Prey & Updates

Birds of Prey & Updates

Birds of Prey

With spring on the way and more birds coming back, I am seeing more red-tailed hawks. According to the Medicine Cards: The Discovery of Power Through the Ways of Animals by Jamie Sams anRed Tail Hawk Series 1: Turtle Spring Farm Wildlife Centerd David Carson, Hawks are one of the most intriguing & mystical of the birds of prey. They are the messengers, protectors and visionaries of the air.  The red-tailed hawk is the messenger bird & can lead you to your life purpose. Its keynotes are visionary power and guardianship. Hawk medicine teaches you to be observant. The featured image of Ostara the Red Tail Hawk was taken while she was in a cage and you can see the cage reflected in her eyes.  She was being rehabilitated after being hurt. This picture, along with others, are on gift products in my cafepress shop. Continue Reading…

Spring is Comingherons mating

My daffodils and tulips are peeking through the ground in defiance of the snow that fell last week and the herons are back in Peninsula. The Bath Road Heronry is a local favorite of bird watchers and photographers. From mid-February through June, great blue herons build over 140 nests and raise their young. I have aheron cutout in abstractdded a Heron Gallery to the portfolio.
