Bismark

Welcome to my Sami’s Art blog!  Each week I will post a new blog on one of my paintings or photos, either past ones or new ones I am working on. They will be in new categories of my interests so that you can look up the subjects you are the most interested in.
Bismark is my first cat category. Bismark was a magical, loveable red tip seal point javanese cat. They are part of the Siamese and Oriental breeds. Bismark was elegant in his different  “point” colors beyond the four Siamese colors. He was highly intelligent, playful and loved lying on me when I meditated. If he didn’t like where the meditation was taking me he would growl and pat my face until I acknowledged him. He loved Reiki and would sit on me or under the table when I used it. He was an early rescue in my pet rescue years and was rescued twice. The second time he stayed.

One of the things I love about photography and painting is feeling the spirit of the animal while working on the art. I can still feel him with me when I look at this picture. His eyes held so much depth. You could just be mesmerized by them.

I reside in Northeast Ohio after traveling from coast to coast and living in both rural and metropolitan areas from Los Angeles to New York and of course the Midwest. I am a third generation artist and have been painting since the early 1960s. I have always cared deeply about animals, both domestic and wild, and the preservation of endangered species, has always been a concern as well. Most recently, I was involved in animal rescue work, finding homes for over 11,000 dogs and cats over the previous 12 years. It's only natural then, that I am drawn to animals and nature for my art subjects. I have also explored the metaphysical including creative imagination, Reiki, crystal healing, tai chi, feng shui and yoga and feel they add depth to my art as well. By creating an emotional connection for the viewer I hope my artwork will create concern and compassion for our natural world and its wild inhabitants, and help stimulate conservation efforts. My love of historic buildings and their conservation led me to doing the house portraits and my architectural works
