Announcing Sami’s Art Shop

Introducing My New Art Store

hydrangeas watercolor painted by Sami

Hi Again!

I am so excited! I’m like the energizer bunny that just keeps going! I am learning resilience, not return and this is a new chapter in my life. Continuing my art but in new ways. Choosing the new me after the traumatic brain injury. I am so excited to be painting again. I’ve been hard at work setting up my new art gallery store this past month.  It’s been a lot of early mornings and late nights to get the look I wanted, but I’m really proud of the results. My shop focuses on nature in places, animals (cats, dogs, horses, miniature donkeys), flowers, and wildlife including my favorites, wolves. I have added some adorable miniature donkey ink sketches and new photography. I am also working on two commissions, one, an adorable set of dogs and the other a portrait of a beautiful horse.

Below are some of my favorite images in my shop.

Enjoy!

P.S. I don’t have sales often, but I have a big one planned for Black Friday. Stay tuned for more details!

Wallace the Golden Doodle

I met Wallace on my first trip to the Rockland, Maine area. He has a personality to match his name. The next year I took Brandy, my young doodle to meet Wallace. It was a comical adventure with Wallace roaring his delight and my shy baby trying to hide. I will be adding some other pictures from my doodle adventures later.

Flowers, Ducks & Grandbabies

Flowers, Ducks & Grandbabies

Flowers, Ducks and Grandbabies Painting

The last two weeks I spent a lot of time outside planting flowers in pots and vegetables in pots and in the ground. I am trying hanging tomatoes which, at least, look great with the flowers and herbs in the top part of the pot. IMG_4769Mama Duck wasn’t happy with me trying to peek at the eggs, but I got a good picture.  This is going to be an interesting spring as I have a robin nest in a tree opposite the steps on my deck. She is dive bombing my dogs when they want to go out!IMG_4795 Continue Reading…

Spring Flowers

Spring Flowers

My featurDaffodils and PansiesTulipsed image is a watercolor I did a few years ago of roses. I can’t wait until all the flowers bloom so I can do more watercolors. That summer I did the hydrangeas you see on my other pages and the daffodils and pansy watercolor as well as the tulip watercolor.

Spring Flowers 2016!

This weekend I spent a lot of time outside doing yard work and cleaning out flower beds. Mama DuckmamaDuck_4687 wasn’t happy with me trying to peek at the eggs. She sent me scurrying into the house and waited til I closed the door. I have a duck with attitude. She looked like she had her wing on her hip and was saying this is my yard. I didn’t get a picture of her in that pose as she was hissing and I was moving away quickly. Later I got this photo and I was actually surprised at how small she is. I am hoping to get some great pictures of the ducklings growing up, that is if Mama Duck lets me in the yard. This is going to be an interesting spring! Continue Reading…

Spring is Comingherons mating

My daffodils and tulips are peeking through the ground in defiance of the snow that fell last week and the herons are back in Peninsula. The Bath Road Heronry is a local favorite of bird watchers and photographers. From mid-February through June, great blue herons build over 140 nests and raise their young. I have aheron cutout in abstractdded a Heron Gallery to the portfolio.

Monarch Butterfly

Monarch Butterfly

crocus_4165This week we have gone from temperatures in the 30s to the 60s and my poor little crocuses are blooming with snow coming in the next few days. But it made me think of spring and I remembered my photos of monarch butterflies in Maine. The shots were actually in the Fall, but the daisies were still blooming in the warm sunshine.

Hydrangeas in Bloom

Hydrangeas in Bloom

I have several styles depending on the media and mood.  I can be extremely realistic when painting my houses and other architecture, less realistic when painting pet portraits, but when I do my watercolor flowers, my painting tends to be very loose and flowing. I painted the hydrangeas on a beautiful summer day and the hydrangea bushes were in full bloom. It was the first summer they had bloomed and they were several different colors depending on what part of the yard they were in. I picked a huge bunch and put them loosely on the table and brought my watercolors out on the patio, wet down my paper and just started to put colors down. I think this is one of my favorite paintings as the colors always bring back the memories of that summer and all the flowers blooming.

I took my watercolor image, photographed it and played with the colors and shadows for several months during that winter, bringing back those warm summer days and the painting is a 30 x 40 canvas painting that came out even more beautiful than the original watercolor.

In the next few blogs I will be following the progress of some of my present projects.20x24alliecomehither One will not only be a change for me, but a new direction. I have a request for a painting of a favorite wine painting from a friend. And the second painting is a portrait collage of friends and their new grandbabies. I am really excited in my new direction and to be painting a portrait of a family. I have always enjoyed doing portraits and my favorite is my granddaughter when she was younger. Safe journeys, I’ll see you next week.
